  • Chelsea also played the MLS All-Star team in 2006. A goal from Dwayne De Rosario, who has been named captain of the 2012 side, settled the match 1-0 in favor of MLS.
  • A late request from Chelsea means each team will have 10 substitutions. Because he needed an extra player to make that many changes, All-Star coach Ben Olsen called up Philadelphia Union utility man Michael Farfan.
  • Landon Donovan has been selected every year since his rookie season in 2001. This, his 12 All-Star nod, sets an MLS record, one more than Eddie Pope.
  • This is the third game of Chelsea's U.S. tour. The Blues beat Seattle Sounders FC 4-2 and then drew 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain.
  • Chelsea won the Champions League and FA Cup last season despite finishing sixth in the Premier League.

Man to die for Killing an 8 Months Baby in Owerri

An Owerri High Court presided over by Justice Nonyerem Okoronkwo, has sentenced Uchenna Uhuegbu, from Odunmara, Orodo, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, to death for the murder of an 18-month-old baby girl. Uhuegbu was charged for killing the baby girl, Chimuanya Iwuagwu, also from Odummara, Orodo, on May 17, 2009, in very bizarre circumstances. Chronicling how the innocent suckling was murdered, Justice Okoronkwo recalled that the deceased Chimuanya was heading to throw away refuse with an elder relation and was accosted by the accused on their way.
