Months after a baby was born in Lagos with a Holy Quran in his hand, another miracle baby has again been born in Lagos. This time, the baby boy was born on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Alapere, Ketu, Lagos. According to reports, the boy was born on the 29th day of Ramadan at Sekinah Hospital in Ketu. The birth was said to have been done through a caesarean section. Two days after his birth, the Arabic inscription of Allah was reportedly noticed on the left ear of the child by a family friend of his parents who came to visit them. The mother and child are said to be in good conditions.

BEYOND their regular duties, officers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) are henceforth, to begin the patrol of the nation’s borders. The directive of the Federal Government was disclosed yesterday at a retreat to commanders and directors of NAF by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Dikko Umar. He said the new mandate was part of the government’s efforts at ensuring effective policing and tackling of the worrisome insecurity in the country. Umar also said because of the prevailing security challenges, all NAF operational bases are now used for internal security duties with an average of 65 per cent serviceability status of current aircraft holding flying. He explained that NAF would soon deploy its aircraft in Mali as soon as the directive was received, adding that, “because of the prevailing security situation, the Air Force is used within and outside the country. THEY began with a cry for help from their country. They wanted the Federal Government to take them back to their homeland in Bakassi. It is now about a decade since the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that the oil-rich Bakassi did not belong to Nigeria but Cameroun. But for almost a decade, their hope has remained forlorn. So yesterday, the indigenes of Bakassi finally took their destiny in their own hands.  They declared themselves independent of Nigeria. They went further.  They hoisted their official flag and launched a radio station. The Bakassi Self-Determination Front (BSDF) is the rallying point for all this.  It hoisted a blue, white and red flag with 11 stars on the blue colour. This development is coming a week after the Ogoni declared their independence on August 2, 2012. User Rating:  / 0 Poor Best  EFCC gives N4.5m to groups for budget monitoring THE direction of the national budget for 2013 became clear yesterday as the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the 2013-2015 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategic paper for next year. The Council approved a projected revenue of N3.891 trillion and total expenditure of N4.929 trillion for the year. FEC also endorsed the proposals that the 2013 budget be predicated on a benchmark price of $75 and crude production of 2.53 million barrels per day. In addition, there will be a continuation of downward trend in recurrent expenditure and upward trend in capital expenditure. Towards this, recurrent expenditure will decline from 71.47 per cent in 2012 to 68.66 per cent in 2013 while capital expenditure is expected to rise from 28.53 per cent for 2012 to 31.34 per cent next year.
