Vidic: Manchester United learned from losing the title to City

The Red Devils captain has recently returned from a long-term injury lay-off and believes the club have benefited from last season's experiences and are ready to compete again

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is confident the club are ready to bounce back from agonisingly losing the Premier League title to rivals Manchester City, and believes they have improved as a squad.

The Red Devils lost out on a dramatic final day but the Serbian believes the club have a history of forgetting past successes or failures, and believes the arrivals of Nick Powell and Shinji Kagawa and the extra experience will put them in a good position for the upcoming upcoming.

"It's hard to take when you lose the league in the last few minutes, but we don't think about that now,” he told reporters.

“We've had success in the past as well, but we forget about that too. We move forward. That's something we've always been good at.

"We have two new players with us. We've improved a bit in the middle. Nick and Shinji have done well so far. We've had more experience than last year. We had some young players play a lot of games last season and they'll have learned a lot. We all learned.

“In Europe we've had so much success in recent years - we've had three finals, a semi-final - and maybe we relaxed a bit last season. We were punished last season and we can't allow that to happen again.

Vidic recently returned to action after a lengthy absence and is hoping the club will enjoy a more injury-free campaign after a succession of players were sidelined last season.

“We had a few injuries last season too,” he added.
“I hope everyone can stay fit this season. The young players can learn from last year, so I'm confident we'll be better this year.

"We have a lot of players in defence. But that's good for the team. The last two years we've had a lot of injuries in defence and we've had to bring Michael Carrick into that position sometimes. But I believe this year we'll all be in good shape and we'll do the best we can to help the team do well."

Man to die for Killing an 8 Months Baby in Owerri

An Owerri High Court presided over by Justice Nonyerem Okoronkwo, has sentenced Uchenna Uhuegbu, from Odunmara, Orodo, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, to death for the murder of an 18-month-old baby girl. Uhuegbu was charged for killing the baby girl, Chimuanya Iwuagwu, also from Odummara, Orodo, on May 17, 2009, in very bizarre circumstances. Chronicling how the innocent suckling was murdered, Justice Okoronkwo recalled that the deceased Chimuanya was heading to throw away refuse with an elder relation and was accosted by the accused on their way. The Judge agreed with the prosecution that “because the accused was very familiar with the family of the infant girl, her relation had no problem leaving the two and proceeded to throw away the refuse.” Apart from believing the prosecution’s account, the Judge equally ruled that since the little girl’s relation did not find the duo on her return, it was for the accused to account for the baby that was left in
