Pistorius told 'snowball of lies,' says prosecution 7 August 2014 Last updated at 16:00 The main prosecutor in the trial of Oscar Pistorius has argued that the South African athlete cannot avoid a conviction for murdering his girlfriend. Gerrie Nel accused the athlete of being a "deceitful witness" who told the court a "snowball of lies". Mr Pistorius denies murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. He says he mistook her for an intruder but the prosecution says he deliberately shot her after a row. Prosecutor Gerrie Nel made his concluding remarks on Thursday, with the defence due to follow on Friday. Speaker’s Death: Ondo Assembly Declares Seven-day Mourning Hon. Samuel Ajayi Adesina   •Tambuwal, Kwara speaker mourn By James Sowole   and Hammed Shittu  The Ondo State House of Assembly yesterday declared a seven-day mourning in honour of the late Speaker of the assembly, Hon. Samuel Ajayi Adesina. Adesina died on Tuesday in an undisclosed hospital during his battle with cancer of urinary bladder. The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon Oyebo Aladetan, who disclosed the declaration of the mourning period, added that the assembly had set up a burial committee headed by a member representing the Odigbo 1 Constituency, Hon. Justice Gabriel Kolawole refused the ex parte motion brought before it by Sanusi on the grounds that it would be unfair to grant such an application without affording the respondents a hearing.
